Why is it difficult to get rid of corruption?
Politics is one field that is stressful but teaches many things. The primary issue in politics is corruption. Individuals are fed up with corruption. As the population increases the corruption also increases. Where there will more people there will be more corruption. Individuals tell that all the politicians are corrupted. Yes, it is true.
Most of them before turning into politicians tell that if I come to power I will get rid of the corruption from the roots. Giving big speeches is very easy when it comes to execution it requires some time. Just by bringing the corruption-free laws in the paper doesn’t help in getting rid of the corruption. Some politicians who give speeches on corruption themselves will get corrupted after coming to the power.
An individual is very good at commenting and judging about the corruption but when the same individual faces any fines from any government authority for eg., traffic police catch a person for not wearing the helmet. During that time when traffic police put fine on that individual, he or she tries to escape by bribing them. Even the youths who are raising the voice against corruption are involved in bribing. Only when it comes to others he or she will raise the voice but when it comes to them they tell no we don’t have that much money take this rs.100 and leave us. Suppose if the officer is strict, then the individual who is caught tries to influence by calling a politician. We are making a way for the government authorities to take bribes.
The public is used to these types of corruptions. This problem is there in all the fields. Even in the developed countries some amount of corruption is there. Corruption happens when both government authorities and the public budge together. For example, because of high traffic fine rates, we as being the public want to escape from the situation by bribing and the person who takes bribes will also be ready to leave us by taking money. Who says no when one is getting free money without working. This government official gets the taste of the free money and he continues doing this. We as public will always be ready to pay the bribe but are not ready to correct ourselves. Since the government official knows the taste of free money he will try to collect the fine in one or the other way even when one has all the documents and has followed the rules properly.
While announcing any project the government will always allocate an extra set of amounts. Suppose if the project cost is 800 crores the government will announce 900-1000 crores. They know no one will take up the project if the exact amount is allocated. It doesn’t mean that the entire extra amount will be taken by the government. The company that takes the project, project managers, engineers, contractors will also take some part of it. When this is the case you just think how difficult it is to get rid of the corruption. Suppose if the government allocates 800 crores and is not ready to give more amount then no one will come forward to take up the project and the project gets delayed when the project gets delayed the development will slow down. When the development slows down the public will begin screaming why the government is not finishing the projects on time.
90/100 companies are corrupted in this world. Suppose if the government tries to clean up all the corruption made by these companies, then the employees working in those companies will become unemployed, the unemployment rate increases and everyone starts telling unemployment rate in our country is increasing. Some of the companies even get angry by the action taken by the government and they start targeting the government in one or the other way.
No matter what you do people comment.
How to get rid of corruption?
The public has to put pressure on the government authorities by raising their voice on daily basis, awareness of corruption has to be created, strict rules have to be made, transparency and straightforwardness have to be brought. When the magnitude of the population is more then it will take more time to come out of corruption. Small nations can come out of the corruption faster compared to large nations.
Most businesses don’t care about the service they give. They only care about the money given by their clients or customers. If this is the case how can we clean the entire system? Cleaning can be done but not fully if we clean one side there will be one more problem on the other side. It is a continuous process.
Is it possible to get rid of corruption by having strict politicians or officers?
Yes, it’s possible but it will take time. When a strict officer or politician gives strict orders the people who are working below them should follow their orders. Suppose if they are also involved in corruption activities without the knowledge of the officer or politician, what to do? Because of these types of people, even the good politicians and workers will get a bad name. One cannot get rid of all the bad employees once and for all.
