What is democracy?
Democracy is a form of government in which the people elect the government. In a democratic country, individuals can also involve with their government.
Is democracy the best form of government?
Yes, democracy is the ideal way to run the government because the public has the privilege to participate in decision-making. Democracy helps in finding every problem of the nation. There are some limitations of democracy with good and bad points but, most of the time, democracy is misused.
Is democracy easy for a large population? Is it easy for the government to control a democratic nation with a magnitude of 100 crores population?
No, democracy for a large population is not simple. As the population increases, it becomes hard for the government to control the nation. It will be hard even if the government is powerful as 100 crores brains think in 100 crores directions. Every person has their perspective. When the population increases, the problems also increase, and when there are more problems, finding the solution also becomes very tough. No matter who the leader is, one cannot satisfy everyone. While implementing any new change, some people allow it, and some might not allow it. We have to make everyone understand the benefits of those changes. Some won’t allow the implementation of new changes even if they are good for society. Since democracy is giving freedom of speech, they keep opposing it. Convincing the changes is the toughest task for the elected government in democratic countries, especially when there is more population. Sometimes the government faces a very tough situation, where some people misuse the freedom of speech to misguide the public so that the government will be forced to take back new changes and, thus resulting in delays. It is the main reason why the implementation of changes takes more time in democratic countries.
For example, we are in a society where husband and wife fight with each other because of misconceptions. Similarly, elder brother and younger brother also fight for father’s property. Sometimes these types of fights divide the family. When a small family is facing difficulties because of different ideologies and greed. Just think, how many issues will be there when the population is nearly 100 crores? There will be no end to these types of conflicts. By the time the government finds a solution to one problem, another one will have arisen. If the government spends too much time finding answers to these conflicts, it cannot focus on progress, development, and growth.
Corruption is more in democratic countries. It increases as the population increases and thus becomes tough for the government to handle.
Nepotism is another problem in democratic countries. Due to greed for power, most of them want their family members to be in rule.
The war of words will be more than the work in democratic countries.
No country on this planet is running a perfect democracy. Democracy will not solve all the problems, but intelligence and hard work will aid in the resolution of any issues.
Democracy cannot survive overpopulation when the leader is weak-minded, corrupted, or into nepotism.
